EAMS Update

This year the California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) began converting its existing EDEX information system to EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) which will “go live” in August, 2008.  EAMS is a $40 million project designed to simplify and improve the DWC case management process.  It’s goals are to:

  • Transform paper files into secure electronic files, reducing the need for physical storage.
  • Improve ability to schedule and manage court calendars
  • Allow files to be shared between multiple users
  • Allow for more efficient resolution of claims

Practically speaking, in the short run, there will be some disruption for those providers who rely upon 3rd party vendors such as CompData and Edexis to electronically file their liens.  For the time being, liens must be filed on paper, and by August 25th, on newly approved PDF forms. 

Our office can help!  We are availing ourselves of all training provided by the DWC for professional offices.  We will continue to efficiently file and serve perfected liens on all of our cases using the appropriate forms, and we will continue to access Hearing and Party information on all cases through EDEX.
